The Great Crate Trading Experience - markg - 10-09-2011
so most of you know i have been hitting you up for crates, and wanted to memorialize my experience. it happened in 3 phases.
phase 1; i had been selling crates for weapons at a pretty bad price, but crates were useless unless you have keys, and im not going to be buying keys any time soon, so....anything was worth more than the crates.
then i found someone who wanted some particular number crates, and was willing to trade good stuff for them. so after a few trades, all my crates were gone, and i had a few strange weps! pretty good i thought for something i considered worthless to me.
phase 2; i tried hitting everyone up for their crates, and offered to split the take with them. i did this with a few people, and the worst deal we got was one strange and some metal for 5 (or was it 8, dont remember) crates. the guy that worked with me took back 5 of my crates, and the metal, so he broke even on crates and got metal for his trouble! again, not too shabby for something essentially worthless (and he ended up even on the crates!) i ended up with a strange wep. but i had given him first pick, so it could have worked out the other way around with me getting the metal and crates, and him the strange.
but this was too cumbersome, since people always value stuff more when you want it. so i only did a few trades like this.
phase 3; i started offering weps for crates. this worked out much better, as it was offered to people who really wanted to sell their crates, figuring, like i did, that a few weps was better than something you would never use. i got a LOT of stranges eventually trading all this stuff, and ended up brokering about 70 crates or so.
end result; i ended up with over 25 stranges. i have about 5 dups still, and am willing to sell or trade those. just not for crates
finale; cant find anyone interested in buying crates any more, so im done with this. it worked for the weekend, thats about it. i think i saturated the market. LOL

i ended up trading all my stranges for other stranges, with the exception of a spare bone saw, which i sold cheap. i now have almost all stranges, except rocket launcher/black box/grenade gun/sticky gun.
i'll get those when i save up some metal. but it turns out these are some of the most valuable stranges, so it may be some time....
