Changing the server

I suggested to mark that we change it from 24/7 2fort to some type of rotation server. Then, our server appeals to a wider variety of people as opposed to people who only like 2fort. He agreed and asked me to post here. This is a list of maps I have here and I'm open to suggestions:

- CP_Badlands
- CP_Granary
- CP_Fastlane
- CP_Well
- PL_Badwater
- CTF_Turbine
- CTF_2fort
- TC_Hydro

Assuming we adopt this idea, we need to decide the amount of wins/time before the map rotates.

Also, I wasn't sure how to format this in a .txt so I just posted it here. Sorry mark.

the settings that control the round/rotation time are:

mp_timelimit 234 //game time per map in minutes \ lotus uses 192/234 for tf2, 45 for rotation
// mp_fraglimit 0 //Whenever a player reaches this number of frags, the map will change
mp_winlimit 5 //Max number of rounds one team can win before server changes maps
mp_maxrounds 10 //max number of rounds to play before server changes maps


i would suggest we start by setting them as above.

so the map would change if any of the above events happened; 45 minutes or 5 round wins or 10 max rounds. and leave the fraglimit not enabled.

and we can also set the 'default' map to whatever we like. default meaning the map that the server changes to if there are no players for say 10 minutes. so it can always start on 2fort for example after it is empty for a while.

finally, here is the 'default' map cycle:

I like the idea of the server defaulting to a certain map after a while.

Hopefully the switch from a 24/7 2fort server to a rotation server will bring in the customers. Big Grin

That was my idea. A rotataion map appeals to a wider base of players.

even with the current lapse, we aren't doing too bad...

98% percentile! We could do even better if our Vent numbers were up.

a few alternative/extra options that are simple to update since the plugins are part of the admin tool:

mapchooser Provides an automated system for players to vote for map changes.
randomcycle Randomizes the map cycle.
rockthevote Provides a player-initiated system for players to vote for map changes.

I have enabled both mapchooser and rockthevote, and changed the game time to 45 minutes/winlimit 5/maxrounds 10.
the server should continue to default to 2fort after it is empty for 10 minutes.

we will have to test it to see if it works, as there may be some conflicts.

and if you guys think either a rotation setup or randomcycle is better, thats easy to do too. let me know.
plus we need to rename it now! 24/7 2fort doesnt seem to fit anymore.
