we get quite a few spoofed ip addresses on the forum, likely just one person who was banned trying to use an anonymizer to sign up.

to thwart this bs, we use several tools, some that might be interesting to you all:

http://ip-address.cc/ shows your location on a google map
http://www.whatsmyip.org/iplocation/ shows another's location on a map

neither of these are exact, but close enough! And since we log every ip address that connects to the forums etc., these tools and others show us who is trying to improperly gain access.
