I recently had some issues with the hosting solution i have been using.
While doing a firmware update to fix some server issues, one of the software modules necessary for the forums (php to be exact) didnt like the update, and bricked the server admin panel. took some time to get that fixed, but it also reminded me of why i originally set it up that way; convenience. But this wasnt very convenient. so i figured there had to be a better way.
so i moved the forums, on a test basis, to another host i have had for more than 9 years. that worked well, but i had a problem with the dns redirectors that i wasnt smart enough to solve while keeping the projects separated. other than the separation, everything worked great, including email (after i upgraded the forums to the latest software).
so i then moved them to yet another hosting company, but it turned out after a lot of work, they just couldnt handle what was needed; the forums worked, sorta, but never could get totally up and running.
4th time was the charm! we are now on our 4th host, and it seems to be working great! everything has been upgraded with the latest software and plugins etc. So for now i am DONE!!! Well, i do have a few new features i plan on adding after i get a few games in....
