Server upgrade
#1
i have been having a reset issue with one of the routers, and decided it was time to replace/upgrade.

so i upgraded the faulty router with a commercial gigabit version (with poe for future expansion), and at the same time repartitioned the network.

there are still 3 segments, but before the game server was on a segment one step removed from the firewall. i was able to get a larger router to combine most of the two segments, thereby allowing me to repartition things and hook the game server directly to the firewall.

what will this do for you? well, it should drop the ping about 1 ms or thereabouts (negligable) and it should also stop those 5 second lag spikes we have been getting once every few days (not that much actually, but a pain when they did happen).

As an added bonus, if in the future i have to reset any portion of the internal lan, it wont affect the game server unless i have to reset the firewall as well (which never happens - it is commercial grade and runs for months without a reboot).

if you see any issues please let me know.
