for halloween this year, like the last two, we ran one of our TF2 servers as a vanilla/24 slot server on the halloween maps, alternating between 2010s and 2011s (since the 2009 map didnt really give us anything new, and didnt have the presents).
we had TONS of people playing over the last week, and it was a big success. Even had some donations to the server, thanks!
We also ran the second server primarily as a 12 slot/private server (with a special password that changed every day), so that we could get the achievements and gifts. We had some issues getting it started, but once we cleared the initial hurdles (figuring out how many players we needed to get the presents to drop, figuring out how many had to be playing vs spectating etc.) it COOKED all week, and if you participated the entire time (a few did) you would have received dozens of presents!
Thanks to all that participated, and special thanks to those who responded to my pleas for 'i only need one more player to get the present drops'. You made it happen, and i trust you were rewarded handsomly with the presents! if you werent, let me know and we will figure something out.

ps. we only had to ban a handfull of players this year for not following the rules and stealing presents etc., but the bans run out in a week (after halloween event is over) so nothing permanent.
