Server - New vs Old
#1
since we changed the server location etc., i thought you might want to know exactly what we did.

basically we had a 4 core cpu, 4gb ram, 10mbit ethernet connection, with 250 gb of data. This means we were data limited, as the rest of the system rocked for anything we could throw at it.

the new system is a single core, 1gb ram, 1,000mbit ethernet connection, and 1,000gb of data. This means we are cpu/ram limited, as we now have more than enough bandwidth to cover anything we can run on the single core. in either case the ethernet connection is good enough (although the new one sounds better with the 100x speed improvement, you only need what you need, and the old one was fine).

it would be nice to upgrade to a dual core, but thats an additional $20/month, so unless we get some donations, it isnt happening.

oh, and you can send paypal donations, so not having a credit card is no longer an excuse. go sell that old computer stuff you dont use any more on ebay, and paypal us the loot!
