ive been trying to figure a way to save some on the electric bill ever since i found the server box is eating about $60/month in electricity. And i think i found a way....
I installed some software drivers that monitor the server load, and throttle the cpu core speed/voltage to match. It only seems to change from 2.2GHz to 1.1GHz, so there shouldnt be any weird interactions, but you never know.
the places it will be most apparent is the teamspeak server, so if you notice anything different starting today, let me know; i can disable/enable it if necessary to see whats happening.
But if this works out, it should save about 40%, since it throttles each core down to 1/2 max frequency when that core is not being heavily used.
