If you are trying to trade with others, it makes it a lot easier if they can see whats in your backpack, avoiding a lot of wasted time showing your items one by one.
The default steam settings ALLOW this, but most people, including me, unknowingly changed their settings to block the in game tools that allow viewing other peoples backpacks.
To make your backpack viewable again (in game) you need to do the following:
Thats it, and now everyone in game can browse your backpack using the chat command "!bp" allowing you easier trading!

To make your backpack viewable again (in game) you need to do the following:
- Right click on the steam icon in your tray, and select "Community"
- Click on "Edit my profile"
- Click on "Settings"
- Change BOTH profile status AND inventory to "public"
Thats it, and now everyone in game can browse your backpack using the chat command "!bp" allowing you easier trading!
