we are moving our game servers, primarly due to a bandwidth issue, in that we are becoming so popular that i have to turn them off for parts of the day else we blow past the bandwidth available!
trouble is, we now enjoy a full 4 core/4gb ram/1tb hard drive system, and we wont be able to afford anything near that.
the good news is that we probably dont need quite that much power. the one i am looking at is dual core hyperthreaded, with 2gb memory, 200gb of hd, and 2gb ram.
storage space wont be a problem, as we only use about 75gb total for everything.
cpu shouldnt be much of an issue either, but only time will tell. i think the main restriction will be dram, and its tough to tell without trying it out. we currently use up to 2.5gb typically, so 2 may not be quite enough.
in any event, i have to make a change, so it will most likely be this week. it will change our ip address again, but for most servers it wont matter. our gametracker stats will reset, again, but it only takes about 30 days to get back to normal. not sure anyone really cares about that anyway.
teamspeak will also be moving, but that should be totally transparent for anyone using voice.nbsclan.net for the address.
